ABA Selects New Executive Director  7/29/2023
Following a national search, the American Board of Anesthesiology is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele S. Pore, M.B.A., to the role of Executive Director, Administrative Affairs, to lead the staff of the nation’s certifying board for anesthesiologists. Ms. Pore brings to this position nearly 20 years of nonprofit and corporate leadership experience. Most recently, she served as the ABA’s Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.

ABA Signs onto Amicus Brief in New Hampshire Medical Terminology Case  7/23/2023
The ABA, alongside the American Board of Medical Specialties, has prepared an amicus brief in support of the New Hampshire Society of Anesthesiologists’ lawsuit against the New Hampshire Association of Nurse Anesthetists. The case seeks to prohibit nurse anesthetists from calling themselves nurse anesthesiologists, a term that suggests they are licensed to practice medicine, and to ensure that patients and other health care consumers are not misled concerning the qualifications of their health care providers.
